Bird and CCX charge the same for a utility message. The rest of the month is where they differ
To a US number, Bird's total for a utility template and our all-in price are the same. Bird's fee is the same in every category, so on marketing templates its total comes in a little below ours. What changes is how you pay for everything around the message.
Bird is a communications platform with a pay-as-you-go model: no monthly fee, a fixed fee on top of the Meta rate, and a shared inbox with no software charge. If all you need is to send WhatsApp messages at the lowest unit cost, that is hard to beat. If you want one monthly fee that covers the inbox, campaigns and journeys, an AI agent billed per interaction and a team you can talk to, read on.
The price per message, side by side
Bird passes through the Meta rate and adds a fixed fee of $0.005 to every outbound message, in every category. For a utility template to a US number, that is $0.0034 from Meta plus $0.005 from Bird, $0.0084 in total; CCX's all-in price for the same message is US$0.0084, on every plan. Messages your customers send are free on both.
Bird has no monthly fee: its paid plans are a monthly deposit you spend on messages, and the two largest take 10% and 20% off Bird's fee. Our plans start at US$39 a month and include the platform. On message cost alone, Bird comes out ahead; what our monthly fee buys is everything around the message, from the inbox and campaigns to journeys and the team that answers you.

When Bird is the right call
- You want pure pay-as-you-go: no monthly fee, just a wallet that the messages draw down.
- You send high volumes and can commit to a monthly deposit: the two largest plans take 10% and 20% off Bird's fee.
- You need to choose where data is processed: Bird lets the customer pick the region, and its inbox runs in Ireland, India or the US.
When CCX is the right call
- You want an AI agent that answers from your catalog and knowledge base in the same inbox, billed per interaction from US$0.02.
- You want to try it before you top up: sign-up comes with a test credit and no card, while Bird's wallet starts at a 15-unit top-up.
- You want one monthly fee, US$39 to US$399, that covers the inbox, routing, campaigns, journeys and reporting for the whole team.
- You want support from the team that runs the platform, on business days from 9 am to 6 pm BrasÃlia time.

How does moving the number work?
The number is yours and stays yours: what changes is which platform answers for it at Meta. You connect it through Meta's own signup flow, and we walk through the migration with you.
