What's the difference between the WhatsApp Business app and the Business Platform?
The app runs on one phone for a few people. The Business Platform is Meta's official API: your whole team answers from the same number, conversations connect to your systems and automations, and messages outside the 24-hour window go out as approved templates.
How do I get access to the official WhatsApp API?
Through Meta's own signup, inside CCX: you sign in with Facebook, pick or create your business portfolio, confirm the number with the code Meta sends and set the name customers see. It takes a few minutes. Verifying your business with Meta isn't required to start, but it's what lifts the initial limit of 250 people a day.
What is the difference between the official and the unofficial WhatsApp API?
The official one is Meta's Cloud API, with approved templates, delivery receipts and published rules. The so-called unofficial API is a bot driving WhatsApp Web or the app through a QR code, which WhatsApp's Terms of Service prohibit: the number can be banned, and your customers' conversations go through a server with no data protection commitment. CCX only uses the official API.
How much does a WhatsApp message cost?
